SEND and Inclusion at Elm Tree Primary School
At Elm Tree Primary School, we believe that every child belongs, every child matters and every child can succeed. As a school family, we are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and supported to achieve their full potential.
Our approach to SEND and Inclusion is built around the understanding that children learn best alongside their peers. Wherever possible, all children are taught within their classroom community, accessing high-quality teaching that is carefully adapted to meet their individual needs. The SEND Code of Practice states that “High quality teaching, differentiated for individual pupils, is the first step in responding to pupils who have or may have SEN” and that “Special educational provision is underpinned by high quality teaching and is compromised by anything less.”
As a school family, we work closely with children, parents, carers and outside agencies to ensure that every child is understood, supported and celebrated. We recognise that children have different strengths, interests and ways of learning, and we are committed to removing barriers so that all pupils can participate fully in school life.
At Elm Tree, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to ensure that every child feels a sense of belonging, develops confidence and independence, and leaves us with the knowledge, skills and self-belief to thrive in the next stage of their education and beyond.

Suffolk SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disability Information and Support Service)
Suffolk SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service) is a confidential and impartial information, advice and support service on issues related to SEND. It is free, easy to access and confidential. They can help children, parents and young people take part in decisions that affect their lives.
They offer information, advice and support to:
- Children and young people (up to 25 years) with SEND
- Parents and carers of children with SEND
- Practitioners (who might support children, young people or parents to access our service).
