Curriculum
At Elm Tree, our curriculum is ambitious and designed to ensure that all children acquire and retain the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to be successful learners and responsible citizens. Through high quality task design, effective teaching and regular retrieval practice, we enable children to build secure foundations and make meaningful connections in their learning.
At Elm Tree Primary, we provide a creative, inclusive, challenging and real-world curriculum that inspires future thinkers, innovators and problem solvers within an immersive environment that stimulates and supports high quality learning. Each curriculum subject is carefully sequenced to build on prior learning, ensuring that knowledge and skills develop progressively over time. Curriculum planning is responsive to the needs, interests and starting points of our children, allowing every learner to access, engage with and succeed in their learning journey.
Oracy is at the heart of our curriculum and is embedded across all subjects. Through purposeful discussion, questioning, reasoning and collaboration, children develop the confidence, vocabulary and communication skills needed to articulate their thinking, deepen their understanding and engage meaningfully with others.
We strive to ensure that all learners exceed their potential academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually, working in partnership with families, communities and the wider world. Through our ambitious curriculum, we nurture confident, resilient and aspirational individuals who are equipped to become lifelong learners and make a positive contribution to society.
